Walkinshaw building Coromal Caravans
Walkinshaw Group have broadened their Australian manufacturing operations to include the Coromal Caravans range. This adds to partnerships that Walkinshaw has already established with General Motors, Volkswagen and Mitsubishi for the conversion, upgrade and remanufacture of sportscars, SUVs and utes, as well as the manufacture of New Age Caravans.
Back in 2016, Walkinshaw’s purchase of a part stake in New Age Caravans was their first step into the caravan space, followed by a buyout of that company in 2018. The new deal with Coromal Caravans increases Walkinshaw’s presence in the growing Australian caravan market, with Coromal’s range to be manufactured at the same facility in Epping, north of Melbourne, where New Age Caravans are built.
Walkinshaw states that their manufacture of Coromal Caravans will be in addition to the New Age Caravans capacity and will have no impact on planned production levels or timelines for that brand.
Following the deal’s announcement at the end of January, production is now underway, with Walkinshaw calling it another sign that the Australian manufacturing industry is strong. The multi-faceted Victorian business says that adding Coromal Caravans to their business structure works with their range of existing customer and OEM design, engineering and manufacturing programmes.
In terms of sales, marketing, and aftersales support for Coromal Caravans, there will be no change, with these elements of the business still under the control of Tourism Holding Limited.
