VW Caddy camper to return?
European release of a new-generation Caddy Beach compact camper this September may lead to the model being re-introduced to Australia.
Based on the all-new, fifth-generation Caddy van (with its new Euro6-compliant diesel engines), the new Caddy Beach offers a redesigned interior, an entirely new, more versatile bed set-up and adds a panoramic glass roof. New tech includes Travel Assist and Trailer Assist.
Carryover features include lightweight camping chairs and table that can be stowed in the vehicle, with their storage bags doubling as privacy screens.
VW Australia imported 120 units of the previous generation Caddy Beach here at the beginning of 2019. Despite being well-equipped and with a starting price under $47,000 (less than half the price of the larger California Beach camper), the model was not continued into 2020.
