Toyota Kluger gets new 'Altitude' pack
On the back of a 13.2 per cent sales increase in 2012 (13,239 units), Toyota hopes the latest Altitude pack will result in further sales growth for their mid-size SUV.
Retailing for $48,990*, ($44,490* for the two-wheel drive edition), the 2013 Altitude, based on the AWD Kluger KX-R seven seater, is $500 cheaper than last year's offering, and adds sat nav, a rear entertainment system and tilt-and-slide moonroof.
The special addition is powered by the same 3.5-litre VVT-I V6 petrol engine as the Kluger KX-R, with a 5-speed electronic auto transmission. The $1,300 premium is the same for both AWD and 2WD variants.
Externally, the Altitude is identified by 19-inch rims (up from 17-inch on the KX-R) and 245/55 tyres usually reserved for the top-grade Kluger Grande. Four exterior colour options are available, with other external features including black roof rails, front foglamps and an Altitude tailgate badge.
Inside, the Kluger Altitude features black fabric upholstery, and adds a premium AVN (Audio, Visual, Navigation) system that incorporates satellite navigation with traffic updates** and 3D images viewed through a 6.1-inch LCD touch screen.
The upgraded audio system includes Bluetooth™ for hands-free communication^, streaming for compatible smart phones or MP3s#, phonebook and SMS message access, voice recognition, SMS text to voice^^, SD Card Slot#, USB input# and iPod®"# control.
The Kluger's safety package includes seven airbags and driver assist technologies such as vehicle stability and traction control, Hill-start Assist Control and, on the all-wheel drive version, Downhill Assist Control.
Standard features include electric power-assisted steering, audio and multi-information display controls on the steering wheel, Optitron instruments and air-conditioning.
The Kluger Altitude 2013 version is now available. See your Toyota dealer for further details.
