Toyota HiLux gets spec upgrades
Toyota have introduced safety, specification and cosmetic improvements to selected model grades of their top-selling HiLux, with the new and improved features coming into effect from August.
"Toyota always strives to bring the best possible vehicles to market, and these upgrades have been implemented with our valued customers in mind," said Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley.
Upgrades apply primarily to SR and SR5 HiLux variants, starting with black 17-inch alloys in place of the steel wheels on the SR extra cab and dual cab, with body-coloured door handles replacing the previous black handles.
On the HiLux SR5, dual cab ute variants now come with new safety features as standard, including blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a panoramic view monitor. In place of heated mirrors, the HiLux SR5 now offers puddle lamps.
On all HiLuxes from the SR5 grade up, the steering lock has been replaced with a new ‘ID Box’ immobiliser that works in tandem with the HiLux’s smart key to provide an extra level of security.
Pricing for the HiLux starts at $24,225 for the 4x2 single cab chassis, with 4x4 versions from $40,155. HiLux SR 4x4 pricing starts at $43,225 for the 2.8 manual single cab chassis. The higher-spec, auto trans-only SR5 4x4 starts at $59,160 for the 2.8 extra cab, with the SR5 4x4 dual cab from $59,180.
