Super Sierra: 2006 GMC Sierra Denali

A member of Autogroup International, AVS specialise in Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer and Cadillac vehicles. The star amongst their GMC range is this Sierra (GMC's answer to the Chevrolet Silverado) in top-of-the-range "Denali" specification. The Denali has all-wheel drive without low range gearing. Other Sierras are available with rear-wheel drive or 4x4. Large trucks such as the Sierra have traditionally been the vehicle of choice for towing and this beauty is more than up for the task of towing a race team trailer, horse float or big boat. It provides luxurious travel for five - a true dual cab - and isn't short of power, with an impressive 345 hp, 6.0-litre SFI V8 Vortec engine under the bonnet.

The Denali's auto trans probably robs the big V8 of a little of its power, but compared to a manual, the difference is negligible. Four wheel disc brakes with ABS are standard on the Denali-spec Sierra, as are 18" chrome alloy wheels fitted with radial tyres. The wheelarches are certainly big enough to take larger rim/tyre combos, should the prospective buyer wish to "bling" their Denali up a bit! Even in purely stock-specification, as shown here, the Denali is a handsome truck, with smooth lines and a bold wrap-around grille. Bumpers and door handles are colour coded, while chrome highlights on the side steps, exhaust tip and grille are a good match to the body colour (black in this example). This is a true dual cab with large second row seat compartment and a decent tray behind. Of course, a tow bar is fitted.

Inside, the cabin is spacious and well appointed. For the front passengers, there are large, heated bucket seats with armrests and 10-way power adjustment. Rear seats are moulded to carry up to three in comfort, and can also be folded forward to create more cargo space. Leather trim, tinted windows, power steering, mirrors & windows, plus dual zone climate control air conditioning provide a very high 'comfort' factor. The Denali is fitted with a 6-disc CD changer, Bose speaker system with sub woofer, cruise control, delay wipers, tacho and computerised trip odometer. This is a high-quality, high-impact truck that I'm sure a lot of you could see in your driveway!
