Subaru Australia release ’50 Years Edition’ Forester and Outback
To commemorate its 50th Anniversary, Subaru Australia has released special-edition versions - the 50 Years Edition - of some of their most popular models, including the Forester and Outback AWD SUVs.
“This year marks 50 years since the start of a national importer and nationwide dealer network for Subaru in Australia,” explained Subaru Australia’s Managing Director, Blair Read. “Since those humble beginnings, over 1 million Subaru’s have made their way to driveways all over the country.
“50 years is a significant milestone for our company, and we wanted to celebrate it with something special for our customers. The special edition models are a tribute to our rich history and the enduring appeal of the Subaru brand in Australia.”
Announced in late May, the 50 Years Editions are defined by exterior cosmetic features, special trim and spec upgrades. In addition to the Forester and Outback SUVs, the 50 Year Edition is also available on Subaru’s WRX sedan and WRX Sportswagon.
As the Forester has been Subaru’s top-selling model in Australia, it’s appropriate this model gets the 50 Years Edition treatment, which is available on both the 2.5i AWD and 2.5i-S AWD variants.
Features on the Forester 2.5i AWD 50 Years Edition include black leather accents on the seats, 50 Years Edition badging and an upgrade of the dash, centre console and door trims with 2.5i-S trim.
Available colours include Crystal White, Ice Silver, Horizon Blue, Magnetite Grey, Crimson Red and Crystal Black.
For the Forester 2.5i-S AWD 50 Years Edition, the grille, fog light garnish, roof rails and front and rear under guards are finished in black. The mirror caps, side and rear garnish and shark fin antenna are in Crystal Black. The rear badges get a black lustre finish and there’s also the same 50 Years Edition badge as the 2.5i AWD 50 Years Edition.
Eighteen-inch alloys in Dark Grey high lustre are standard and all existing Forester paint colours are available, but interior colour is limited to black only.
For the Outback, the 50 Years Edition is only available on the Touring XT grade and includes items from the Sport grade. Paint is limited to Geyser Blue with black interior trim. A special 50 Years Edition badge is fitted outside, while the rear garnish and spoiler are both finished in Crystal Black.
Features from the Outback Sport grade applied to the Outback Touring XT 50 Years Edition include fixed roof rails, black rear badging, green exterior highlights and alloy wheels with a dark metallic finish.
While Subaru Australia haven’t put a specific cap on numbers for the 50 Years Edition Outback and Forester, they do say that both special editions will only be available for a limited time. Customers are advised to contact their local Subaru dealer ASAP to secure their 50 Years Edition vehicle.
