Subaru adds ‘Sport’ to Forester
Arriving in Subaru dealerships in October, the new variant follows the Forester hybrids released at the start of 2020.
“2.5i Sport AWD is the third variant we have added to the initial four offerings in the current generation and it’s an eye-catching and practical wagon that only enhances Forester’s customer appeal,” said Subaru Australia Managing Director, Christian Dinsdale.

Beyond the standard electric sunroof and addition of LED lighting on the tailgate and cargo area, the 2.5i Sport AWD is primarily an appearance package, adding 18-inch alloy wheels in a dark metallic finish, LED fog lights with black surrounds, with a similar black surround for the grille and rear garnish. Orange highlights feature on the front, side and rear under guards with orange inserts on the roof rails, too. Additionally, a Dark Blue paint option will be exclusive to this Forester variant.

Inside, water repellent grey cloth seat trim features contrasting orange stitching, with air vent and shifter panel trim picked out in orange, too. Chrome-look trim for the window switches and piano black surrounds on the rear armrest cupholders also feature.
Drivetrain is unchanged, meaning the 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated Boxer petrol engine, matched to a CVT transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

Along with all MY21 Foresters, the 2.5i Sport AWD gets a revised headlight design and collision detection unlock function for the doors and tailgate. For 2021, all non-hybrid Foresters have increased towing capacity from 1500kg to 1800kg, too.
Priced from $41,990 (+ ORCs), the new Subaru 2.5i Forester AWD sits above the $39,940 Forester 2.5i Premium, but comes in under the $42,990 2.5i-S.
