Ssangyong Rexton ‘Black Edition’ coming
Ssangyong have announced a new, limited-edition variant of their Rexton SUV for 2022 – the Black Edition – will be coming later this year.
Based on the existing Ultimate grade 7-seater (which sits above the ELX), the Rexton Black Edition is a cosmetic package, adding new-look LED foglamps, a gloss black finish to the diamond grille and black roof rails.
Additionally, the Black Edition will come with 20-inch alloys wheels in black that are unavailable on either the ELX or Ultimate.
The limited edition will be offered in a choice of two colours - Space Black and Pearl White.
The Black Edition comes as the result of impressive year-on-year sales growth for the Rexton in Australia, including a 131 per cent increase in local sales last year alone.
“The Rexton SUV range already offers customers unrivalled levels of luxurious appointments, family-friendly space with flexibility of seven seats and an impressive 3.5 tonne towing capacity,” said SsangYong Australia national marketing manager Stevan Dimitrovski.
“For a modest premium over the Rexton Ultimate, this limited edition offers a sense of sophisticated toughness and individuality to our customers.”
Running gear and mechanical features are unchanged, meaning a 2.2-ltre turbodiesel four-cylinder producing 149kW and 441Nm, matched to an eight-speed automatic. Listed fuel economy is 8.7lt/100km (combined cycle) and the fuel capacity is 70 litres.
The Rexton comes with a long list of active and passive safety features as standard, including ABS, AEB, EBD, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Collision Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and a full airbag suite for first- and second-row occupants.
Convenience and comfort features in the Rexton Ultimate that the Black Edition is based on include a power tailgate, wireless phone charging, auto locking, a heated steering wheel,speed-sensitive power steering, a power sunroof and premium Nappa leather seats.
Due for local release in August, the Rexton Black Edition will be priced from $56,585 drive away, a premium of $1,685 on the Ultimate’s drive away price.
