Smart Mirror upgrade for Patrol
The recently-updated Nissan Patrol had received an additional upgrade in the form of an Intelligent Rear View Mirror that’s described as a first for both Nissan and the large SUV market.
When all three seat rows are occupied, the Intelligent Rear View Mirror (I-RVM) improves rear visibility by “seeing around” passengers and luggage by combining the traditional rear view mirror with an LCD monitor hooked up to a rear-mounted camera. Drivers can alternate between the standard mirror and LCD monitor via a mirror-mounted switch.
“Safety is one of the key drivers when it comes to purchase consideration and intent and Nissan just upped the ante in this important area,” said Nissan Australia general manager of brand and communications Rebecca Williams.
“Front and rear sensors, Forward Collision Warning, reverse parking camera and Blind Spot Monitoring mean that drivers are more aware of their surrounds than ever before.
“What the Intelligent Rear View Mirror does is take this awareness to a whole new level. If the second row is full of passengers or the car is packed to the roof, the driver will still have perfect vision out the back of the vehicle. This certainly offers peace of mind.”
The I-RVM has been added to the top grade Patrol Ti-L, joining existing safety and driver assist tech that includes Blind Spot Warning and Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Intelligent Lane Intervention. There’s also Intelligent Cruise Control and Intelligent Distance Control, plus Intelligent Brake Assist.
An Intelligent Around View Monitor is also standard, but adds Moving Object Detection for the first time.
The updated Nissan Patrol Ti-L with I-RVM is now available, priced from $88,990 (excl. ORCs).
