Skoda Kodiaq RS arrives in Aus
Local release of the seven-seat Kodiaq RS 4x4 SUV is thanks to Skoda's Australian technical team, who collaborated with the Skoda factory in the Czech Republic to reset the Australian market's technical category. Previously, we were designated as a 'hot and dusty' climate, and thus denied selected performance models like the Kodiaq RS, but the intervention of the Australian teach team means we’re now reclassified as a 'moderately hot country', making the Kodiaq RS a local reality.
"Since its launch [in 2018], we have been working tirelessly to bring the Kodiaq RS to our shores," said Skoda Australia Director Michael Irmer.
"The project has seen collaboration between Australian and Czech technical teams sharing data and know-how. It is because of their shared passion for the Skoda brand that we can finally offer an RS-spec SUV."
Powered by a 176kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel capable of 0-100km/h in seven seconds and driving all four wheels, the Kodiaq RS lapped the world famous Nurburgring Nordschleife in 9m 29.84sec in 2018 – a new lap record for a seven-seat SUV.
Identifying features include unique 20-inch 'Xtreme' alloy wheels, red brake calipers, blacked-out mirrors, roof rails and grille, plus RS badging front and rear. Inside, there’s premium leather trim (with RS logos on the front seat headrests), a 9.2-inch infotainment screen, three-zone climate control, a Canton sound system and Skoda's high definition digital cockpit on a long list of tech and comfort features.
Priced from $65,990 (+ ORCs), the Skoda Kodiaq RS is available now. See your Skoda dealer for details.
