RECALL FOR TOYOTA HILUX AND FORD RANGER 4WD MODELS

The massive recall has been necessitated following 19 cases where HiLux 4x4 owners reported that the rear tailshaft support bracket has failed after the vehicle has been extensively driven on severe corrugations and rough dirt roads.

The recall has been initiated as a precaution, with Toyota saying there have been no reports of crashes or injuries.
Ford has also been forced to recall their PJ model Ranger to have the bonnet striker replaced and also to fix the shift cable bracket on the PJ Ranger.
In both instances affected owners will be contacted advising them to make an appointment with their preferred dealer to have the work completed at no cost.
