When touring it is essential that we make the most efficient use of our cargo area, so many four wheelers instal a set of drawers across the cargo floor. The benefit is that all manner of things can be stored, and even when the going gets rough, items cannot become airborne and become a hazard. With drawers installed the next problem is that the fridge is then located quite high and with a lid that needs to be lifted, access is damn near impossible!
To some extent this is addressed by sliding bases that allow the fridge to be securely mounted into the cradle and then slid back to make it more accessible. This only goes half the way and this is where the Drop Slide comes in. It is an ingenious device that incorporates a sliding base that also lets the fridge be lowered to make access even more easy. As shown in the larger picture the fridge is simply slid back and with an easy to use handle is lowered. Anyone can safely lower the fridge and lift it up again. This is a great device - especially for very short people- and makes a once difficult task easy.
The Drop Slide has a RRP of $449 and is available from www.platinumgear.com.au
