New 4WDs for 2012
Kicking off the year, Chrysler Jeep will launch the latest versions of its Compass and Patriot, along with a 2WD version of the Cherokee. In April expect to see the Grand Cherokee SRT-8 power machine.
Ford re-enters the compact SUV market with gusto, with the Kuga set to be released in Australia in March.
At the heavy-duty end of the market, the 4x4 utility market will get even more competitive with the arrival of more Ranger models, while Isuzu launches an all new D-Max in February. The Mazda BT-50 single cab arrives early in the year, while Holden's new Colorado will arrive mid-year. Volkswagen will also introduce a single cab Amarok in June.
Other compact SUVs on the way include the Land Rover Freelander Mk III later in the year, the petrol variant of the Skoda Yeti, and the Nissan Dualis diesel variant will also arrive in the first quarter. At the luxury end of the market there will be new models from Lexus, Mercedes M-Class and perhaps best of all the new Range Rover Vogue arrives in time for Christmas 2012. All in all 2012 promises to deliver something new across all segments.
