Mitsubishi updates Outlander for 2019
The model structure of ES, LS and Exceed remains, but the MY19 Outlander brings a new look, with redesigned front and rear bumpers, a new ‘twin-blade’ chrome grille and redesigned fog lamp surrounds.
These changes are practical as well as cosmetic, says Mitsubishi designed to reduce wind noise. On LS and Exceed grades, this is enhanced with the addition of a new rear spoiler that also improves the mid-sized SUV’s aerodynamic efficiency.
A new design of 18-inch alloy wheels also arrives with the MY19 upgrade and is applied across the range. Engineering improvements start with new structural bonding of the Outlander platform that’s delivered increased rigidity for enhanced dynamic performance.
The addition of larger diameter front struts and rear shock absorbers improve ride comfort and body control, while a quick-ratio steering rack has been added to improve responsiveness and steering feel.
Changes to the exhaust manifold’s catalytic converter - on diesel and petrol models - has reduced engine noise, working with the aero changes to improve in-cabin comfort.
Inside, the front seats on all model grades incorporate new trims and have had the bolstering revised to increase lateral support. New-look interior trim features on the LS and Exceed model grades, with four-way power seat adjustment and leather-look seat and door trims added to the LS.
On CVT and automatic models, rear seat passengers now have improved ventilation, with rear seat vents added to the centre console, along with a USB outlet An electric park brake is new, but only offered on CVT and auto transmission variants.
For the driver, adjustable speed limiting has been added to the steering wheel controls, with other improvements including illuminated window switches and one-touch power window operation for all windows selectable from the driver’s door.
