MG reveals grades and pricing for MGU9 ute
MG Motor Australia has confirmed trim levels and pricing for the all-new MGU9 dual cab ute. Benchmarked for the Australian environment, the MGU9 claims to offer the robust strength expected from a ute, while seamlessly integrating advanced technology and the premium comfort of a modern SUV.
The three-variant range for Australia and New Zealand will consist of the ‘MGU9 Explore,’ ‘MGU9 Explore X’ and ‘MGU9 Explore Pro’. Australian pricing will range from $55,000 to $65,000, with New Zealand pricing of NZ$65,000 to NZ$75,000.
Common to all is a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 160KW, 520Nm and listed economy of 7.9lt/100km (combined cycle). This is matched to an eight-speed sports automatic transmission and dual range four-wheel drive. Multi-link independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes are also common across the range. Payload is up to 870kg and braked towing capacity 3500kg.
Differences between the variants come down to things like wheel size – from 18-inch to 20-inch – and appointments, like wireless charging, an upgraded sound system, heated steering wheel, “leather” upholstery, multi-function seats, etc., that are limited to the upper variant/s.

Interior Personalisation with Versatile MultiFold Seating
The MGU9’s MultiFold rear seating has been designed to deliver both practicality and comfort. Upholstered in premium ‘vegan leather,’ the rear seats can be folded completely flat through MG’s proprietary design, enabling a seamless cabin-to-tub pass-through when partnered with the Smart Hatch, transforming the interior into a versatile loading area suitable for longer equipment and materials. When the rear seats are lowered, the front passenger seat can also be folded backwards, creating an extended, flat surface that provides a comfortable resting position. This innovative folding system allows a customisable interior cabin layout, enhancing overall utility and versatility, making it perfectly suited for both work and leisure.

Optional in the MGU9 Explore Pro with the MG Smart Hatch, the rear cabin window has been engineered to be fully retractable, providing customers with unrestricted access between the front cabin and the rear tub when the vehicle’s rear seats are in the lowered position.

Driver Centric Design
Unique to the MGU9 is an aircraft-inspired gear selector, elevating the cabin’s interior design and bringing a cockpit-like driving experience, “full of power, speed, and futuristic appeal” according to MG.
The driver’s side instruments and dashboard have been designed to be intuitive and easier to navigate, allowing drivers to remain focused on the road. The infotainment panel adopts a horizontal design theme, complemented by two vertical air outlets on the sides, presenting a unique look. The infotainment system also comes with voice activated commands, meaning the driver’s hands can stay on the wheel for longer.
The centre console is robust and thoughtfully designed, with a sliding storage compartment and hidden cup holders, making it neat and practical for daily use.
