Despite some easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria, organisers of the National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo in Melbourne have made the decision to cancel the 2021 show and reschedule for 2022.
Originally to take place on 20-22 August, July’s COVID lockdown in Victoria led to a cancellation of that original date and new dates of 26-27 November put in place. These dates have now also been abandoned, with the show rescheduled to 19-21 August, 2022.
The decision to pull the pin on this year’s Melbourne show was made in mid-October, with the event organisers saying their hand was forced by ongoing uncertainties over density limits, vaccine mandates and other COVID-related considerations for both visitors and exhibitors.
The 2022 National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo will still be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale, which has multiple outdoor and indoor exhibition spaces, ensuring flexibility to deal with various COVID requirements, should they still be a factor by next August.
The event will run with a COVID-safe plan, which may include requirements like pre-purchase tickets, limited ticket availability and staggered entry times to reduce on-site numbers.
With a much longer lead-time now in place, the mix of features for the 2022 National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo in Melbourne are still to be determined, but expect regular attractions, including interviews and talks at the popular Outback Stage, cook-ups at the Catch & Cook Stage, the Action Arena and more to carry over to next year.
The all-new Show N Shine, where owners of four-wheel drive rigs of all types can win some great prizes, is expected to finally make its debut in 2022.
Of course, there’ll be an abundance of stallholders with the latest and greatest 4x4 products and related gear for camping, adventuring, fishing, boating and enjoying the great outdoors.
