Mahindra updates Pik-Up for 2020
Mahindra have given their Pik-Up range a facelift, added more standard features and included a ‘Pastoral Pack’ of accessories for 2020.
Announced in May, the MY20 Pik-Up features what Mahindra calls an “aggressively-styled” exterior, and while the overall look is familiar, there have been some changes.
The main difference is in the grille, with the eight ‘fangs’ of the old design replaced with very Jeep-esque seven grille openings, outlined in a bright metal finish, while the bright metal top trim from the old grille is gone.
The other noticeable change is on the foglamps, which now feature round lenses and a modified surround in the same lower-bumper housing. Headlights look the same, but now feature bending projection beam lamps and LED DRLs.
The vents in the front guards have also been modified, carrying the familiar honeycomb fill, but with clear indicator lenses and ‘mHawk’ engine identification on selected model grades.
More minor changes include a colour change on the front bumper’s number plate panel and a modified front skidplate design.
The extra standard equipment for the Pik-Up range has led to the existing S6 and S10 model grades being renamed S6+ and S10+ for 2020. That extra standard equipment includes cruise control, Bluetooth and upgraded fabric seats, with arm rests and driver’s side height adjustment, for the S6+. Upgrades to the S10+ include a 7-inch touch screen with high-resolution reversing camera and satellite navigation as standard.
The new-for-2020 Pastoral Pack has been created for “rural, trade and fleet buyers”, according to Mahindra. Combining a number of accessories already available for the Pik-Up, the Pastoral Pack includes a winch-compatible steel bull bar, front end bash plate, new side brush rails, snorkel, tow bar, canvas seat covers and vinyl flooring. The Pastoral Pack is currently only available on the S6+ single cab 4x4.
Mechanically, the MY20 Pik-Up is unchanged, with the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel four-cylinder engine producing 103kW and 320Nm, matched to a six-speed manual transmission. The Pik-Up’s 1,095kg payload capacity and 2.5-tonne towing capacity are also unchanged.
With the increased level of standard equipment, Pik-Up pricing has risen, with the range now starting at $23,990 driveaway for the S6+ single cab 4x2., while the new S6+ 4x4 with Pastoral Pack is $35,990 drive away.
All prices include a 5-year / 100,000km warranty, 5-year roadside assistance and a 4-year / 55,000km capped price servicing programme.
A range of accessories, including galvanised steel and colour-coded trays, snorkels, bull bars, brush rails, nudge bars, side steps, floor mats, bash plates and more are also available.
