Mahindra adds auto trans to XUV 500

The AISIN (Japanese)-made 6-speed auto will be available on both the 2WD and AWD versions of the seven-seat XUV 500, with pricing starting at $31,900 driveaway for the 2WD auto and $34,900 for the AWD auto.

 

Mahindra says the addition of an auto transmission option (the 6-speed manual is still available) will "take the driving experience to the next level with easy cruising on city roads as well as on challenging terrains."

 

At the launch of the new auto variant on 9th May, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said: "The XUV500 already has many technology firsts to its credit and now we have further pushed the boundaries with the introduction of the AISIN automatic transmission."

 

Other features on the XUV 500 include class-leading numbers on both boot space and braked towing capacity (702 litres and 2,500kg, respectively), ABS and EBD, ESC with rollover mitigation, Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control, a reversing camera, leather seats, chilled centre console cabinet, satnav system with 7-inch screen, projector headlights, LED interior lighting, 3-row air con and wireless tyre pressure monitoring.

 

All XUV 500s are powered by a torque-rich, economical 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine.
