Local pricing for Land Rover Discovery Sport revealed
The 2015 range starts at $53,300 for the TD4 SE manual, stretching up to $69,000 for the SD4 HSE Luxury with automatic transmission.
The first member of the new Discovery vehicle family, the MY15 Land Rover Discovery Sport is described as a versatile, premium compact SUV with full-time 4WD, a dynamic design, compact footprint and seating for seven (in a 5+2 configuration).
Land Rover says the 2015 Discovery Sport will deliver a highly refined combination of performance, safety and efficiency, with the 2.2-litre diesel-engined (TD4=110kW, SD4=140kW) models producing 420Nm of torque, driving through a choice of 9-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmissions. The Disco Sport with the Si4 2.0-litre petrol engine is fitted with the 9-speed automatic as standard.
New Land Rover innovations debuting on the latest Discovery Sport include Autonomous Emergency Braking and a new touchscreen infotainment system.
"The Discovery Sport is the perfect vehicle for the Australian terrain and climate," said Michael Winkler Jaguar Land Rover Australia Managing Director.
"Not only is it capable and luxurious, its price point makes it available to even more Australians who want to enter the compact premium SUV market."
The Discovery Sport will offer a comprehensive range of personalisation options, while an equally long list of dealer-fitted accessories will also be available. The May release will see the new Discovery Sport sold alongside the existing Land Rover Discovery.
