Jeep announce 'Summit' Grand Cherokee
The Summit adds unique exterior touches, satin-finish 20-inch alloy wheels, top-grade leather interior, genuine timber trim and a harmon/kardon sound system, amongst other features, all for a $4,000 premium over the standard 3.0 CRD Overland. The $75,000 MSLP* for the Grand Cherokee Summit places it above all models in the Jeep grand Cherokee lineup, except the SRT 6.4 V8.
Exterior
Chrome detailing features headline the styling upgrades of the Summit model to provide an upmarket appearance and imposing road presence.
These include:
-Special edition grille with chrome mesh inserts
-Unique lower front fascia with chrome bar
-Body-coloured wheel arch flares
-5-twinspoke satin finish 20-inch alloy wheels
-Door lowers finished with chrome trim
-Unique lower rear fascia with integrated trapezoid exhaust finishers in chrome
-Summit badging on rear tailgate
Interior
The Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD Summit includes special interior upgrades beyond the Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD Overland grade, including:
-NaturaPlus leather trim - the highest grade of leather found in any Jeep vehicle
-Premium headlining with suede-like finish
-Genuine open-pore wood trim (available with Grand Canyon interior finish)
-harmon/kardon® 19-speaker surround sound system
The audio system features GreenEdge loudspeaker technology to deliver superior sound quality and high output while consuming minimal energy.
The Grand Cherokee Summit is only available with the 3.0-litre V6 CRD, which Jeep says reflects the preference of the target consumer. The diesel V6 develops 184kW of power, 570Nm of torque and can achieve fuel consumption figures of just 7.5 litres per 100km#.
It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission for seamless shifts in both city and off road driving.
The Summit features the full suite of assistive technologies from the Overland for optimal safety, including Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with crash mitigation,
Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Rear Cross Path Detection (RCPD). It also has Quadra LiftTM Air Suspension, which allows the driver to adjust the vehicle's ride height to suit specific applications.
The Summit special edition doesn't lose on off-road ability, either, retaining Jeep's advanced Selec-TerrainTM traction control system, which has five modes to allow the driver to tackle any condition, including snow.
Multiple exterior colour options are available, along with two interior colour schemes - Morocco and Grand Canyon, the latter which comes with high grade, genuine open-pore wood finish.
Premium 'paint1' and a rear DVD entertainment centre can be fitted as options.
Fiat Chrysler Australia CEO and President Veronica Johns said the Grand Cherokee Summit represented the ideal option for buyers seeking a large luxury SUV without the high asking price.
"Grand Cherokee has enjoyed unprecedented sales success this year; more than 10,000 units have been sold year-to-date and it has led Australian Large SUV segment sales for the past four months," Ms Johns said.
"And at a time when many Australian buyers are in the market for a refined diesel SUV, Grand Cherokee Summit provides the ultimate solution at a compelling price point.
"We are excited to introduce this premium model to the extensive 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee model range."
