After sales of more than 3 million units in overseas markets, Jackery Solar Generator products are now available in Australia. Founded in the USA more than a decade ago, Jackery’s vision to “Bring Green Energy to All” has seen them continuously innovate, launching the world’s first portable outdoor power stations in 2016, followed by portable solar panels two years later.

When you think about it, there are few places on earth better situated to utilise solar power than Australia. This “sunburnt country” makes harnessing the sun for our power needs a no-brainer, and while there are portable solar panels and charging devices out there already, rarely have they been combined with a generator to provide reliable power without relying on internal combustion.

Jackery are changing that, with their Solar Generator 2000 Plus and other solar generator models using solar panels to charge a portable power station. The result is reliable, long-lasting power for those off-the-grid getaways in the 4x4 or caravan. Other applications include working remotely and providing power in the event of an electricity outage or other emergency.

So, what makes Jackery so good?
Along with a series of industry firsts and product awards, Jackery’s success has been built on the safety of their products, with a range of protective features, like groundbreaking ChargeShield technology, built in.
Developed in-house at Jackery, ChargeShield incorporates 62 protective mechanisms, 12 protective algorithms and 4 types of physical safety protection. The unique, stepped, variable-speed charging algorithm not only enhances operator safety, but also increases the lifespan of the battery pack by 50 per cent (using the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus as a measure).
The battery in the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus and other Jackery portable power products uses LFP (LiFePO4) technology for a life of up to 10 years, even if the generator is used daily, while 70 per cent battery health is maintained for up to 4000 charge cycles.

Power O’Plenty
In its standard form, the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus outputs 45.6Ah (2kWh) – enough power for a full day of camping. Capacity can be expanded up to 638.4Ah (12kWh) with add-on battery packs, while running two Jackery 2000 Plus units in parallel provides up to 24kWh. That’s enough for a fortnight off the grid, or home back-up power for a similar period.
Dual PD ports deliver 100W and can power heavy-duty devices up to 6000W. Here’s how that translates to real time, continuous use and recharge repeatability for popular devices and appliances:
- Kettle (850W) – 1.9 hours
- iPhone 14 (4325mAh) – 60 recharges
- Coffee maker (550W) – 2.8 hours
- Electric oven (800W) – 2.1 hours
- Microwave (1050W) – 1.5 hours
- Air conditioner (1150W) – 1.9 hours
- Drone (90W) – 45 recharges
Outlets on the generator include one 12V, two USB-A, two USB-C, four 20A/120V AC outlets and one 25A/120V AC outlet.
The Jackery SG 2000 Plus measures 37.3cm x 47.2cm x 35.9cm x (LxWxH) and comes with wheels and a retractable trolley handle to make it easy to move around the campsite. The 27.9kg weight is manageable, but lifting with two people (using the Solar Generator’s included grab handles) is recommended.

The Strong, Silent Type
Other features that set the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus apart include its FCC/CE certification and UL safety certification that boasts flame retardancy, fall protection and Grade-9 shock resistance. For ease of operation, a Jackery app allows the SG 2000 Plus to be controlled remotely.
All these features would be useless if the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus roared like a Mack truck, but it’s whisper quiet. And of course, being fuelled by solar energy, it’s emissions free.
The IBC solar panels Jackery uses are industry-leading units, with up to 25 per cent efficiency. This factor alone has earned Jackery the portable power industry’s first ‘carbon footprint verification’ from TÜV SÜD for being carbon neutral and meeting safety approval standards worldwide. The SG 2000 Plus has also received a SEAL Sustainable Product Award, while the design of the entire Jackery range has earned a global Red Dot award.
Using six 200W solar panels, recharging the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus takes two hours. Recharging from a standard wall outlet takes about the same time, while recharge from a vehicle takes 25 hours.

One of Many
The Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus is one of several products in the Australian launch range. Others include the Solar Generator 500 and Solar Generator 1000 Pro variants. There’s also the Explorer 1000 Pro Portable Power Station and larger Explorer 2000 Pro Portable Power Station, which are essentially the same as the solar generator models, but without the solar panels.
With a Jackery Solar Generator, you’ll always be prepared.
