How far offroad can your Caravan go?
While the Outback Sterling caravans have the stylish design and all the luxury features of the conventional Sterling range, they also include a number of features which give these vehicles the "extra muscle" to be towed over the rugged terrain encountered in many remote regions.
These features include:
_ a reinforced, galvanized, extra strength 15.2 cm (6 inch) Millennium chassis;
_ a heavy duty Alko Rocker Roller suspension and an under-slung axle for higher ground clearance; and
_ off-road 235/75R16 tyres which sit on 40.7 cm (16 inch) alloy rims.
Jayco continues to draw on the best in automotive design to enhance the look of its entire recreational vehicle fleet, and the sleek Outback Sterling range is no exception. All Outback Sterling caravans have "tough frame", smooth sided fibreglass walls and curved front and rear panels with LED side and clearance lights. Other external features include checker plate protection for the side walls, galvanised rear bumper bars and mud flaps.
The Outback Sterling range includes three model sizes - 5.7 metres (18 ft), 6.1 metres (19 ft) and 6.4 metres (20 ft) - with five different layouts sleeping from two to five people. The interiors of the vehicles reflect a smart balance between comfort, style and functionality. They have spacious layouts, quality appliances and furniture, practical and durable soft furnishings and a contemporary decor. They also feature the same brushed aluminium appliances used in Jayco's conventional Sterling range.
Features include:
_ a 28cm (15 inch) Sphere LCD screen;
_ Sphere DVD/CD/ MP3/AM/ FM 12V stereo;
_ three-way Dometic RM 2553 fridge;
_ a control panel which monitors two water tanks and battery levels; and
_ a 12 volt pump to supply tap water.
All models include a moulded shower and a toilet as standard features (although there is an option with one model to remove the internal shower and include two or three additional bunks). In addition, all models have an external shower. Internal ceiling lights and swivel down-lights for the beds provide direct lighting at night. "Customer feedback at this year's caravan and camping shows has been terrific. Women love the smart, new designs, while the guys really like the extra muscle of our Outback products," said Andrew Ryan, Jayco's Marketing Manager. "Owning a Jayco Outback van means that you can now take safe and comfortable holidays in the remotest corners of the continent. Reliability and a little luxury go a long way".
