Honda CR-V diesel now available
Two specification levels will be available initially: the entry-level DTi-S and better-equipped DTi-L. Both versions feature a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine delivering 110kW of power @ 4000rpm and 350 Nm of torque @ 2000-2750 rpm.
New to the diesel is Honda's Real Time 4WD with Intelligent Control System, for extra grip on uneven or slippery surfaces. It also features Hill Descent Control (automatic only) that works in tandem with Vehicle Stability Assist to provide even more security and connection with the road.
Fuel consumption figures range from 5.8lt/100km (combined) for the manual DTi-S up to 6.9/t/100km for the DTi-L. Transmission options include Honda's 6-speed manual and 5-speed auto with grade logic control, with the auto the only transmission available for the DTi-L.
"The arrival of this new diesel engine to our CR-V line-up is great news for our customers," said Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins. "The CR-V already has a large and loyal fan base as our recent sales success shows.
"Since the fourth-generation CR-V arrived in November of 2012, we have sold just over 14,000 units. We are confident that the addition of the diesel variant will further strengthen the CR-V's offering in the medium SUV segment."
The addition of a diesel variant means there's now a CR-V to suit virtually all requirements: petrol/diesel; two-wheel-drive/four-wheel-drive; and manual/automatic.
DTi-S
With Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control, Anti-lock brakes (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Trailer Stability Assist (TSA), tilt and telescopic steering adjustment as standard, the CR-V DTi-S also features MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension and Hill Start Assist with Transmission Shift Lock (automatic transmission only).
Bluetooth phone and audio streaming with steering wheel mounted controls and USB connectivity ensure you stay connected safely and easily.
17 inch alloys (with a full sized spare) are standard, with exterior features including halogen headlights with auto-off timer function, LED daytime running lights and LED rear tail lights. A reversing camera, leather wrapped steering wheel, rear parking sensors and satellite navigation round out the DTi-S specification.
DTi-L
Available only with Honda's 5-speed auto transmission (with grade logic control), the DTi-L adds smart entry with push-button start, 18 inch alloys (with a full sized spare), front and rear parking sensors, bi-xenon HID headlights, Active Cornering Lights. Inside, driver and front passenger seats feature heaters and unique leather trim. The eight-way power seat for the driver has two memory settings for extra convenience.
One of the CR-V Diesel's strongest features is the outstanding fuel economy. The manual DTi-S has a combined cycle of just 5.8 litres/100 kilometres and 151g/km CO2 (manual transmission) and the DTi-L has a combined cycle of 6.9 litres/100km and 182g/km CO2.
Honda's ACE Body Structure is now a well-established weapon in Honda's safety armory, providing significantly enhanced occupant protection in a variety of real-world crash conditions. Coupled with the pedestrian injury mitigation design of the front of the CR-V and a five-star ANCAP safety rating, the CR-V enhances occupant and pedestrian safety.
Exterior colour options include Alabaster Silver Metallic, Deep Ocean Blue, Passion Red Pearlescent, Polished Metal Metallic, Twilight Blue Metallic and White Orchid Pearl.
Pricing for the new CR-V diesel starts at $38,290 for the DTi-S manual, with metallic paint an extra cost option across all variants.
