HEMA Map Patrols
Hema started with the Discoveries and then went to the Nissan Patrols, which Hema have stuck to. When asked about that Hema Maps Managing Director and former Production Manager, Rob Boegheim says " the Nissan Patrols are simple, robust and because they are so popular, aftermarket products are readily available and relatively inexpensive." Well the latest Hema Map Patrol has hit the tracks and it is by far the most high tech, safest and complete of any Hema Map Patrol to date.
To quote Rob again " ...we learn all the time and this is our third Nissan Map Patrol and as we cover about 250,000 kms in each, we learn pretty quickly what works and what we need to fix next time." The list of alterations and ad-ons is extensive and the best way to communicate that is to simply list them out, as I have below, but when you see this list and realise the cost and the investment, one gets an entirely new perspective on those Hema maps that we all depend on so much when we are miles from anywhere.
This Map Patrol is the vehicle by which the Hema Maps field checkers travel every track and road in Australia, recording, real time, the location, condition, physical features and facilities in and around all these roads and tracks and it is that information that goes directly into making the maps we see and use.
