Ford introduce EcoSport SUV
As part of their mega new product launch in Sydney this week, the EcoSport will join Ford's existing Australian SUV portfolio of the Kuga and the soon-to-be-ended Territory.
Based on Ford's global B-segment platform that underpins the Fiesta hatch, Ford says the EcoSport "combines small car practicality with the flexibility, spaciousness, agility and style of an SUV" to meet the growing compact SUV market.
Ford say the EcoSport has undergone millions of kilometres of testing, including here in Australia, as well as being tested in the most demanding climates across the globe.
The new model features a high driving position, off-road capability, excellent fuel economy and easy manoeuvrability. Ford say the EcoSport is as equally at home in the city as it is in the country.
EcoSport styling is defined by a large front grille - in the style of the rest of the current Ford family - slim, detailed headlights; and chunky cladding on the side sills and bumpers.
"Ford EcoSport will deliver smart technologies as well as great value, quality and fuel economy to our customers," Ford Australia President and CEO, Bob Graziano, said. "It will also present them with a fantastic choice that will be a perfect complement to our SUV portfolio.
"We expect the rugged Ford EcoSport to appeal to a new generation of customers who are looking for an agile SUV with excellent dynamics, flexibility and multi-purpose practicality.
"We are confident the Ford EcoSport will do for the small SUV customer what the Ford Kuga and Ford Territory have done for family buyers," Graziano added.
