DEALER FOCUS – Sunshine Autos
Sunshine Autos are dedicated to getting you into a used car that you can afford. They claim excellent ongoing business by under promising and over delivering for their customers.
Located at Car City Minchinbury, Sunshine Autos always has a big range of late cars, SUVs and 4x4s to choose from, with access to more than 80 vehicles at time of writing.
Sunshine Autos buy cars, too. Appraisals are hassle-free, stress-free and can take as little as 30 minutes. You don’t even need to take your car to the dealership initially. Simply fill in the online form, providing basic vehicle details and one of the team will get back to you with an online estimate. If you’re happy with that, a vehicle inspection and assessment of the relevant paperwork follows, after which Sunshine Autos will make an offer on the spot.
Extended used car warranties are available, and can be tailored to your needs, too. Sunshine Autos offer numerous warranty options to suit virtually any budget, so you can get the coverage you want at a price you can afford.
Finance is also available as part of the Sunshine Autos ‘Total Ownership Experience’. Comprehensive and highly competitive solutions from financial professionals are tailored to your personal or business needs. Sunshine Autos say that the process of financing your next used vehicle with them will be as smooth as driving it.

4x4 FOR SALE
Here’s a 4x4 currently available at Sunshine Autos:
2019 Mazda CX-5 Maxx Sport
Consistently one of Mazda’s best-selling models, the CX-5 is a medium-sized SUV that combines style with substance, offering modern looks, seating for five and all-wheel drive capability (front-wheel drive options are available, too), making it ideal for young families who want to mix in daily commuting or the school run with mild off-road work on the weekends.
With this example being a 2019 model (priced at more than $42,000 when new), the initial depreciation has been absorbed by the previous owner, making for good buying. The frugal 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine means this SUV will be cheap to run, too. With its stop-start system, listed combined cycle fuel economy is just 5.7lt/100km - a serious improvement on the 7.4lt/100km from the 2.5 petrol four-cylinder that’s the standard engine for the MY19 CX-5 Maxx Sport. The engine is matched to a six-speed sports automatic transmission and on-demand four-wheel drive system.
Being the Maxx Sport grade means this CX-5 gets a few extras that the entry-level Maxx misses out on, like alloy wheels, LED fog lights, dual-zone climate control, sat nav, an auto-dimming rear view mirror and a rear-seat centre armrest.
The GT, Touring and Akera grade CX-5s offered more, but cost more, too. The Maxx Sport was the “sweet spot” of spec and price back in 2019 and accounted for more than a third of all CX-5 sales back then. It’s still a popular grade on the latest version.
The Jet Black on this example gives a classy appearance, accented by the new-look alloy wheels and selective use of chrome.
All CX-5 grades were upgraded for 2019, so this SUV gained Mazda’s full active safety suite - adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam, lane-keep assist and a driver fatigue monitor – in addition to the existing active and passive safety tech. Other MY19 upgrades included the G-Vectoring Plus system for increased vehicle stability at speed, suspension improvements and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay for the MZD Connect infotainment system. The Maxx Sport didn’t get the touchscreen or head-up display that the upper CX-5 grades got, but that’s not such a bad thing, especially for those who prefer tactile dials and switches.
In the cabin, cloth-trimmed seats look sporty, while the repositioned air con controls (part of the MY19 changes) make for a cleaner-looking console. The steering wheel and gear shifter are wrapped in leather, with the push-button starter and all controls falling easily to hand. There’s plenty of space for all occupants, while foregoing the sunroof that’s fitted to the GT and Akera means there’s more headroom, too.
Maximum boot capacity is 1,342 litres (442 litres with rear seats occupied) and braked towing capacity is 2000kg. This particular CX-5 comes with a towbar already fitted, so it’s ready to pull your boat or small camper trailer.
Interior comfort and convenience features include the aforementioned dual-zone climate control, as well as tilt and reach steering adjustment, front seat height adjustment, power windows, a six-speaker sound system, DAB+ radio, cupholders in the first row and bottle holders for first and second row seats, illuminated vanity mirrors, adjustable headrests, power folding external mirrors and an electric park brake.
