The next generation Jeep Cherokee is returning to a more boxy shape, as pioneered in the original XJ models.

The Cherokee gains a little of its DNA from the Jeep Commander with similar styling hues, but underneath it gains a new independent front suspension and five-link rear axle. It will be offered with both Command Trac (part time 4WD system) and Selec-Trac II (full time 4WD system). The new Cherokee is expected in Australia early next year.
