Typhoon Compressor
An endorsement of the work the Projecta team has achieved in product development has come from the highly competitive world of 4WD off-road racing where precious seconds count at any stage of the event.Constantly adjusting tyre pressures from 18 - 40 psi to meet variations in terrain from sand, mud, water courses and boulders to hard road surfaces, throughout an event can take precious minutes and be the difference of winning or losing. Shane Murray, principal of Wombat Offroad in Melbourne's South East suburb of Ringwood, has taken a serious competitive advantage in his highly modified Land Rover Discovery with the permanent installation of a high performance Projecta Typhoon 150psi air compressor.
"The Typhoon compressor is awesome and gives us a distinct advantage in competition," commented Shane. "Where a tyre normally takes more than a minute to inflate, we are doing it in 10 - 20 seconds. We have an extra air tank on board however the Typhoon runs all the time and is so quick that we can save 10 - 12 minutes in an event," he said. Shane, who also answers to Wombat, said that the thermal overload provided added protection for the air compressor cutting in when temperatures reached the extreme. The highly modified Land Rover Discovery is the aggressive flagship of this progressive company which was a recent recipient of a Business Achiever Awards 2006 for Automotive Services.
