SELLING my pride and joy. Been my dream build ever since my first lap of Australia with a 3.0 TD patrol, my love for Patrols grew deep.. My love for Chevy 2500 HD Silverados was also deep, driving one around a farm in TN watering trees, with 5000 litres of water on the tray, and powering up a stupid steep grass hill, and not noticing there is 5 tonne of water on the back! Boy oh boy I was in love. So many years later, when I find out you can have the 4x4 drive train of a GU patrol, (not to mention it's realistic truck size for normal day use, and squeezing through outback over-run tracks, where the crazy big 2500 HD scrapes all the paint down the sides) and the powertrain of the 2500 HD Silverado can be married together in the one truck!!! WHAT Seriously!?!? Oh my 60k conversion cost.. Hmmmm.. Anyhow I headed over to the other side of the country to buy a 6.5 Chevy Diesel conversion from the West. What a disappointing engine, over heating, turbo lag, etc, etc, etc. If I get hate from that comment, that is just my opinion :) So I wanted to find the perfect truck to start this ball rolling. Especially looking for something rust free (electronic rust proofing installed as early in the truck's life was very important), with plenty of tech goodies to make the long drives that much better. The seats in the GU are one of the most comfortable seats I have ever owned, driving for 20 hours straight from Perth to Ceduna and not having a numb bum, or sore back was a massive bonus! Manual transmission to start was also important, 3200kg towing, with GCM and GWM upgrades easily available if needed. My van was only 2.2 tonne, so this was not needed for me.. Only about 15000 k used since conversion. Trip to Flinders Ranges towing my loaded 2.2 hybrid XT12 average for entire trip 17.9 l/100K Fraser Island trip, same van average 19.5l/100k some chewing through soft sand on this one, fantastic result imo! 6.6 Duramax Silverado 2500 HD engine conversion LLM Turbo Diesel.. Engine K's unknown, but purchased with under 100k miles guarantee. (These engines are stupid touch and 500k is easily realistic life) 365 horsepower (stock setting) estimated 420 race. 900 NM torque (stock) estimated 1100NM in race. NO DPF legal DSP5 SWITCH tune On The Fly. 1 - Stock, 2 - Light Tow (America Light tow means 2-3 tonne), 3 - Heavy Tow (America 3-6 tonne), 4 - Street Tune, 5 - Race Tune.. Upgraded radiator aluminium, big intercooler front mount. EDGE Screen tells you everything going on with your engine. NILRUST Electronic Rust Proofing Underbody Rust Proofing CB and Aerial Air bags in rear springs, adjustable. Tow Ball, 12 pin flat plug, andersen, rear camera for easy trailer hitching through stereo. Red Arc tow pro brake controller 120 AH Lithium battery in rear draw. Chargable with solar blanket or AC. TJM Pro Series Air Compressor installed for rear use (easily reaches all 4 tyres on truck, and vans) running solely off the lithium battery. Car does not need to be running to operate compressor. NEW Brake system----- New bigger grooved rotors on all 4 corners, and callipers, and pads. Stops stupidly quick, and in my mind a MUST for these conversions. If you can get too 100 in single digit seconds, you want to stop fast and safely too... No more soft crappy Patrol brakes :) Mod plate for 5 seater 95% tread on tyres (see photos, pretty sure you know these are bloody good) 5 x tyres all new. Dirty Life bronze/gold mags x 5. New ARB bullbar with fog lights Spotties and Roof Bar, with rear worklight. Cheetah Slimline roofrack, with rod rocket launchers. Kenwood Double Din stereo, with reverse camera and bluetooth (phone ipod) IF you wanted to go ANYWHERE towing ANYTHING the last thing I was going to do eventually, is add twin lockers to this beast. I never got bogged, I actually think it's not possible, even with 40psi. But locked, OMG. NO Time Wasters please.
