Toyota unveils 'C-HR' crossover concept
As part of the brand's C-crossover segment, the upcoming concept is said by Toyota to combine a "bold new design language with an agile, engaging driving experience and a hybrid powertrain".
Toyota calls the styling "diamond architecture" as the concept's sculpted lower bodywork and faceted surfaces are, supposedly, like those of a precision-cut gemstone.
The 'floating' exposed tail light design is distinctive, while the high stance and chunky wheelarches give the concept's SUV tag some credibility. The overall design is a sportier take on the compact SUV genre, in the vein of BMW's 2 Series Active Tourer or Ford's EcoSport.
A development of the "under priority" and "keen look" design themes, the diamond architecture treatment presented on the C-HR is expected to be added to Toyota production vehicles in the near future.
With trimmed wheelarches and a more roadgoing stance, the body design would be easily transferrable to a sports coupe, so don't be surprised if elements of the C-HR appear on a revamped compact in Toyota's future lineup.
Further details will be presented at the C-HR's official reveal, which will take place at the Paris Motor Show on October 2.
