Toyota's 200 Series problems?

It is believed that the gearbox is suitable for fast German autobahns, but local models won't shift - even in manual mode - into sixth gear.
This also has an impact on fuel economy with official consumption figures of 10.9 litres per 100kms blown out of the water! With the vehicle only going to 5th gear, fuel consumption figures are in the 13-17 litre/100km vicinity.
