Steel cable has traditionally been fitted to winches, being considered the most efficient and strongest cable for arduous off road winching tasks. A new product that is winning over hardcore four-wheel drivers is synthetic rope, which is considered to be stronger and lighter, and less prone to kink, curl or splinter, making it easier to handle and work with.

Now available from 4WDD1 is the Rugged Ridge 10,500lb heavy-duty synthetic rope winch. Its features include a durable 6.6hp series-wound motor, a 3-stage planetary gearbox with 218:1 ratio, 94 feet of Dyneema SK75 with a breaking strain of 19,310Lbs and pre-terminated hook, an in the drum automatic holding brake system, billet aluminium hawse and a 12-foot all weather cable remote.

The total package weights 31kg and has a RRP of $990.
