Recovery Essentials from ARB

Drag chain - A rated chain that can be used for many purposes. ARB's comes in a handy container, which is perfect storage, especially when the chain is muddy and needs to be stored. Snatch straps - Specifically designed to stretch under load for maximum performance, an ARB snatch strap is an effective method of extracting a bogged 4WD when a second vehicle is present. The 8000kg model is recommended for most 4WDs.

Tree protector - When using a tree as an anchor point in a recovery situation, wrapping chain or cable around a tree causes damage to both your equipment and the tree. ARB's tree trunk protector (pictured) features 75mm wide webbing which eliminates the risk of ring barking a tree.

Recovery damper - From time to time cables - for whatever reason - can and do break. When a cable is placed under extreme tension, a useful precaution is to fit a recovery damper prior to a load being applied. If the cable breaks, the recovery damper will absorb most of the energy in the cable or strap, thereby significantly reducing the recoil.

Snatch blocks - A snatch block effectively lets you double a winch's capacity by reducing the load on the winch by half. It also facilitates winching from various angles when straight ahead isn't the best option. ARB snatch blocks feature side plates that sit snug against the pulley, eliminating the possibility of the winch cable becoming trapped between the pulley and the side plates.
