Dakar 2013 countdown - Gordon is back
For 2013, Gordon is back, and this time around, his Hummer his fulfilled all regulatory requirements following the preliminary checks. Come the Dakar start on January 5, the Californian showman fully expects to challenge the Minis of Stéphane Peterhansel and Nani Roma, along with a number of new entrants, for the title.
The H3 that sparked debate in 2012 has been vetted in the workshops of Charlotte. Gordon, who will be displaying race number 315 on his car at the Dakar start in Lima, aims to improve on the 3rd place gained in 2009 - the first South American Dakar. The "rebel" will be flanked by his co-pilot in 2011, Kellon Walch, for the 2013 event.
With a number of new buggies entered, including two purpose-built, Chev V8-powered machines for Nasser Al-Attiyah and Carlos Sainz, the sheer amount of competition in the car class means every podium place will be harder to achieve than ever before!
The 2013 Dakar rally runs from January 5 to 20, 2013, and will take in Argentina, Chile and Peru. Further details can be found at www.dakar.com
