THE STORY The 2011 Land Rover Defender was a rugged, utilitarian 4x4 vehicle that has a worldwide reputation for tough versatility.
Powered by a “Puma” 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel powerplant sourced from Ford, the engine produced 360Nm of torque and was coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The cars also had a desirable 3,500 kg towing capacity and permanent 4x4.
They were offered with three distinct wheelbases – 93, 110 and 130-inches.
The 130-inch model was typically configured as a Heavy-Duty dual cab utility and is highly prized for its unique combination of a 5-seat passenger cabin and rugged rear tray.
In addition, this version gained pop-culture fame when it was heavily featured in the James Bond films “Skyfall” and “Spectre”.
This model is highly prized today with a global enthusiast base and is widely considered to be a modern cult vehicle.
Production of the classic Defender shape ceased in 2016 and older models are becoming increasingly valuable.
THE CAR This tough 2011 Dual Cab Defender High Capacity Pick Up is finished in Black with black cloth seats, deep-dish wheels and bolt-on wheel arch moldings.
It differs from the standard Defender pick up in its cargo bed volume, squared off side panels and heavy-duty suspension designed to carry a bulkier payload.
The car is powered by the 2.4 liter turbo-diesel Ford Puma engine and has its original 6-speed manual transmission.
Other features include a tow pack, bull bar, CB radio ariel (CB hand set missing), tonneau cover, snorkel, spotlights, wooden knob gear shifter, “Defender” rubber mats and wind deflectors.
There is also air conditioning, power windows and a modern touch-screen radio head unit.
