Considered as the flagship of Mercedes SUV line-up, the GLS is the equivalent to the S-Class sedan and was introduced in 2006 as a luxury 7-seat four-wheel drive. The second generation X166 was introduced to the market in late 2012 and remained in production until 2019. In 2016, the X166 was facelifted and formally introduced the GLS badge, where previous models were labeled as GL.
